Abbotsford, about 30 minutes east of Vancouver is the major commercial center of the developing Fraser Valley region of the lower mainland.
Sandwiched between the Fraser River to the north and the US border to the south, the Abbotsford area with its grassy pastures and snow-covered mountains, may fool the visitor to think he or she has just landed in Switzerland.
Main area attractions include three golf courses, hiking scenic Mill Lake, biking Sumas Mountain and several wineries offering wine tasting. In early July Abbotsford celebrates the Abbotsford Berry Festival, which showcases the strawberry, raspberry and blueberry products its farms are famous for.
Hotels in Abbotsford are located just of the Trans Canada Highway and are all within 5 miles of downtown and the Abbotsford Airport.
