After going through massive redevelopment and rejuvenation, the fairly compact and easy to navigate area of downtown Cleveland has become the crown jewel of a city that is no more 'the mistake on the lake'.
On the waterfront sits the majestic and new Cleveland Browns Stadium and the world famous, architecturally groundbreaking Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum were the life accomplishment of Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley Bruce Springsteen, the Beach Boys, the Beatles and many others is on display.
To the west of the stadium is 'the flats', an industrial area turned into nightlife area with clubs, pubs and places to eat. West of the river, and 'officially' out of downtown is Ohio City, a hip 'village like' neighborhood with Victorian homes and the popular West Side Market.
To the east is the Warehouse District a developing stretch of nineteenth-century commercial buildings turned to shops, galleries, restaurants and cafes and south of it is the campus of Cleveland State University. Closing downtown from the south is the Gateway District, home to Jacobs Field stadium and the Gund Arena.
In between, and within walking distance of most other attractions, the core of downtown, around Playhouse Square is packed with banks, corporate headquarters, shopping malls and obviously, theaters. The numerous hotels in downtown Cleveland put visitors right in the middle of all the action.
