The city of Danville, with a population of about 50,000, sits on the banks of the Dan River, an hour northeast of Greensboro, NC. It is located in south Central Virginia, just north of the North Carolina state line.
Major points of interest in and around Danville include the Danville Science Center, which is housed in a historic train station near the waterfront, Millionaire's Row along main street which showcases many homes with Victorian and Edwardian architecture as well as five churches and the Historic Murals of Danville in the downtown and Tobacco Warehouse historic districts.
Most hotels and motels in Danville are located along the northern bank of the Dan River and are within a mile of the downtown area and within 5 miles of the Danville Regional Airport.
