Gander International Airport was built during the 30's and was considered at the time an ideal location to for transatlantic flight refueling. The town of Gander, NF grew around it.
These days the Gander Airport is still the largest airport in the province and the town is a popular stop over for travelers on the Trans Canada Highway.
Gander is also a good home base for exploring Central Newfoundland, the picturesque Kittiwake coast, the icebergs, Whales and Quaint Fishing Villages.
