Originally built as an exclusive island getaway for the likes of William Rockefeller and J.P. Morgan, the Victorian-era Jekyll Island Club Hotel was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1978.
The hotel consists of three main buildings surrounded by landscaped grounds in the center of the Jekyll Island Historic District. Restoration during the 1980s established the resort as a historic hotel with modern amenities in unspoiled natural surroundings.
Period furnishings and ornate woodwork inside complement the atmosphere created by an exterior tower, bay windows, and verandas. Several boutiques and collectible shops now operate on site.
Guest rooms at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel feature two-poster beds, mahogany furnishings and rich fabrics.
