Kananaskis Village is located in a picture perfect valley at the front ranges of the Rocky Mountains. It is about one hour west of Calgary and about 40 minutes of Banff National Park, along Highway 40. It is also only 5 minutes from Nakiska Ski Resort on Mount Allan.
The Kananaskis village complex was built for the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics and was also the location of the 2002 G8 Summit. The complex is now home to two upscale hotels and is open to the public.
Summer activities include hiking, white water rafting, golfing and horseback riding. Winter activities include world-class skiing and snowboarding, cross-country skiing, sleigh rides, tobogganing, snowshoeing and ice-skating.
