The town of Luray, VA sits at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains at the eastern part of the Shenandoah Valley, about 45 minutes from Harrisonburg.
The Luray Caverns, attracting about half a million visitors a year, are located in the western part of town. The largest caverns in the Eastern US offer visitors well-lighted, paved walkways to explore the magnificent stalactites, stalagmites, mirrored pools and cathedral-sized rooms with ceilings towering 10 stories high. Inside the cavern is 'The Great Stalacpipe Organ', which lays claim to being the world's largest musical instrument.
Other points of interest in and around town include thee Car and Carriage Caravan Museum, which has on display vehicles dating back to 1725, Luray Singing Tower, and the Roman Revival-style Page County Courthouse dating back to the early 19th century.
