The small mountain town of Red Lodge is located about 60 miles southwest of Billings, along highway 212 and about 65 miles northeast of Cooke City, which is the northeastern entrance to Yellowstone National Park.
Nestled at the foot of the Beartooth Mountains, the main attraction in the area is the Red Lodge Mountain Ski Area. At an elevation of 9,400 feet above sea level the resort offers 69 trails and a vertical drop of 2,400 feet.
Summer recreation activities in the Beartooth Mountains include fishing, hunting, hiking and camping.
Hotels and motels in Red Lodge are located along highway 212, within two miles of historic downtown and with easy access to the Beartooth Mountains and the Red Lodge Mountain Ski Area.
