Salida is a small town nestled in the Upper Arkansas Valley in the heart of the Colorado Rockies. With more than three hundred days of sunshine per year, it is an outdoor enthusiast paradise.
During summer visitors will find fishing, kayaking, rafting, mountain climbing, and biking opportunities all within close vicinity. During winter, the Monarch Ski Area, 30 minutes from town, offers Nordic, Alpine Skiing and snowboarding opportunities.
The town itself has a relatively large historic district with Victorian homes, specialty shops and dinning facilities. A popular attraction is the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center, which is Colorado's largest indoor hot springs pool facility.
All hotels and motels in Salida are located along Highway 50, less than 2 miles from the town center and about 20 miles from Monarch ski resort.
