Massive hand carved doors open into an elegant and comfortable microcosm of southwestern lifestyle. Sculpted stairways, T-shaped doors and sandstone walls create the feeling of entering a prehistoric ruin. Huge cactus in terracotta pots stand sentry in public rooms and corridors. Textiles, paintings, carvings and baskets from the Inn's collection represent artists of New Mexico's three cultures - Native American, Hispanic and Anglo. A stunning sandstone wall with a curtain of falling water spans the top two floors, humidifying the atmosphere and providing the soothing sound and movement of water.
The Inn of the Anasazi fifty nine guest rooms have gaslit Kiva fireplaces, four-poster beds and traditional ceilings of vigas and latillas. Authentic artwork of the region's diverse heritage blends with the intricate geometry of antique Indian rugs and hand-woven fabrics. Sheets and towels are pure cotton, and the organic toiletries are created locally with native cedar extract.
A 92 seat Restaurant serves an exciting combination that honors the culinary legacies of the Southwest. Foods of the earth from the Native American, foods of the soul from the Northern New Mexican and foods of substance from the American Cowboy, grown by regional organic farmers and prepared with international awareness. The dining room is elegantly earthy, with wood floor, rough-hewn tables and bancos upholstered in hand-woven Chimayo textiles. A wine cellar is available for private dining of up to 12 guests and stores wine stock for returning patrons, while the intimate cocktail lounge is a perfect place to renew the spirit with friends and follow travelers alike.
