Squamish, self-proclaimed 'Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada', is a small charming town located about half way between Vancouver and Whistler along the 'Sea to Sky Highway'.
At the southern entrance to Squamish stands the 'Stawamus Chief', a majestic, 625 –meter tall granite 'half-dome'. Rock climbing 'the chief' is a challenge to expert climbers. Hiking to the top is possible via various hiking trails in various difficulty levels ranging from moderate to extreme.
The granite formations create strong and steady winds, making Howe Sound, at the tip of which Squamish is located, an ideal place for Windsurfing. Other notable attractions in and around Squamish include the beautiful Shannon Falls, which are over 1,000 feet tall, and the National Historic Site of Britannia Beach and the BC Museum of Mining located there.
Hotels and motels in Squamish are all located in close vicinity to the 'Sea to Sky Highway' and offer easy access to all area attractions.
