The city of Sundance is located in northeast Wyoming, along the I-90 and the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountain range. It's about 60 miles east of Gillette and 20 miles southwest of the Wyoming state line.

Winter activities include cross-country skiing in Bearlodge Mountains in the Black Hills National Forest while summer activities include hiking, biking and swimming in the water of the Keyhole Reservoir.
